Lake Maggiore is a pre-alpine fluvio-glacial lake, the second largest after Lake of Garda. Its shores are shared between Switzerland and Italy and it offers endless possibilities for visits, boat trips and diving. Cannero Castles

Today, the Cannero Castles are charming ruins, standing on two rocky islets just off the shore, and seem to magically emerge from the waters of Lake Maggiore. They consist of the remains of Rocca Vitaliana, a fortress built between 1519 and 1521 by Ludovico Borromeo.
